* A basic knowledge of Windows operating systems, good keyboard skills and preferably, some knowledge of basic bookkeeping are advised.

SAGE computerised accounting aims to give users a working knowledge of one of the most popular accounting software in the world.  SAGE computerised accounting application package is the one of the most popular accounting software in the UK.

Training is provided on the SAGE Accounts 2012 version of the software. The course is aimed at Business Managers, Accountants and prospective Bookkeepers.  This is a Tutor-led based course with hands-on practical sessions complemented by theoretical support for students without a basis in accounting.

The course is provided in two parts:

Level 1

Aims to introduce you to SAGE, an overview of the software, setting up accounts, creating and amending customer records, suppliers, and bank accounts.  You will learn how to post transactions e.g. recording invoices, credit notes, making payments, recording receipts and printing reports. Topics include:

  • Introduction to Sage Line 50
  • Software set-up – an overview
  • Creating and amending records
  1. Customers/Suppliers
  2. Nominal
  3. Bank
  • Financial Reporting
  • Invoice/Credit Notes Posting
  • Payment and Receipts Posting
  • Completing batch control sheets
  • Reports and On-screen information

Level 2

Aims to enable you to carry out everyday operational aspects of computerised accounts. These include processing accounting transactions, producing customer and supplier documentation and producing reports such as aged creditor analysis and sales day book summaries for management purposes. Topics include:

  • Demonstrate the skills of the Level 2 Computerised Accounts
  • Enter initial capital, cash, cheque, and other bank transactions
  • Correct errors by means of credit notes or journal adjustments
  • Enter tax reference codes
  • Produce a trial balance
  • Produce an aged debtor schedule
  • Produce a supplier and customer account history
